The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in America for decades. With the 13th generation that made its debut in 2015, Ford created the smartest, lightest, and most fuel-efficient F-150 ever. With the 2017 F-150, it is getting even better. Here’s a 2017 F-150 preview to give you a glimpse of what’s coming.

One of the biggest additions is an all-new, second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. It will produce 375 horsepower and deliver a segment-best 470 lb-ft of torque, which is an increase of 10 horsepower and 50 lb-ft over the previous 3.5-liter EcoBoost.

This engine will be mated to a new ten-speed automatic transmission for better acceleration and overall performance. This will be the first volume-produced ten-speed automatic transmission available from any automaker.

“The 2017 Ford F-150 now delivers the best torque in the segment,” says Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer. “This class-leading torque arrives with a transformative 10-speed automatic that improves nearly every aspect of F-150 performance.”

With the new transmission gearing, the F-150 will have better low-end performance, making it ideal of hauling heavy trailers and payloads.

The 2017 Ford F-150 will be coming to Friendly Ford this fall. We can’t wait to take this new powertrain combination out for a test drive.

8 Simple Car Care Tips

April came and went with the blink of eye, and with it, so did National Car Care Month.  This month just serves as a reminder of how important it is to keep your car in good health so that you not only extend the life of your vehicle but save yourself money in repair costs. Here are 8 simple and inexpensive ways to keep your car looking and running as good as new.

  1. Check and change your oil. This one is a biggie, nothing hurts an engine more than having old, dirty oil.
  2. Make sure to keep all your moving parts nice and greasy so that they run together smooth and efficiently.
  3. Get a coolant flush at least one time a year. To prevent corrosion, the mix between coolant and distilled water should be 50/50.
  4. Replace your break fluids at least once a year to also prevent corrosion, due to the build-up of moisture.
  5. Change out transmission and different oils. These should be changed according to service intervals.
  6. Wash your car frequently so the winter salt and other grime from the roads don’t eat away at the exterior.
  7. Use a protective wax coating to keep your paint shiny and protected.
  8. When possible, try parking in the shade instead of the sun. Also, apply protective coating to the vinyl and plastic of the interior to keep it looking shiny and new.

If you keep your car happy and healthy in the early years, it will return the favor in the later years by living a long life. Friendly Ford offers great service specials so stop in today and give us a try. You and your car will both be glad you did.
