The pickup truck segment has a ton of popular contenders, especially in the American market, so it can be difficult to pin down the best of the best. That’s why Car and Driver made your job easier by naming the Ford F-150 the best full-size pickup. Offering consumers an affordable blend of sophistication and capability, the F-150 is a great truck for drivers who want a bit of everything without sacrificing the toughness associated with the full-size segment.

Car and Driver cites the Ford F-150’s incredible power and smooth ride as a major reason for its selection – the available 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 under the hood cranks out 450 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful in its segment. Plus, the inclusion of an exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission puts it at the forefront of innovation. However, even without the extra bells and whistles, the $27,735 base model can’t be ignored thanks to its combo of upscale refinement and capable performance.

There’s a reason the Ford F-150 is the best full-size pickup, and that’s because it offers all kinds of standard and available features. With all the additional equipment, the F-150 easily swerves into luxury territory. Don’t forget about the all-new F-150 Raptor either, with its cutting-edge off-road capability.

The F-150 truly has something for everyone.

2017 Ford F-150 Preview: Continuing A Legacy

The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in America for decades. With the 13th generation that made its debut in 2015, Ford created the smartest, lightest, and most fuel-efficient F-150 ever. With the 2017 F-150, it is getting even better. Here’s a 2017 F-150 preview to give you a glimpse of what’s coming.

One of the biggest additions is an all-new, second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. It will produce 375 horsepower and deliver a segment-best 470 lb-ft of torque, which is an increase of 10 horsepower and 50 lb-ft over the previous 3.5-liter EcoBoost.

This engine will be mated to a new ten-speed automatic transmission for better acceleration and overall performance. This will be the first volume-produced ten-speed automatic transmission available from any automaker.

“The 2017 Ford F-150 now delivers the best torque in the segment,” says Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer. “This class-leading torque arrives with a transformative 10-speed automatic that improves nearly every aspect of F-150 performance.”

With the new transmission gearing, the F-150 will have better low-end performance, making it ideal of hauling heavy trailers and payloads.

The 2017 Ford F-150 will be coming to Friendly Ford this fall. We can’t wait to take this new powertrain combination out for a test drive.

Ford Revolutionizes F-150 Truck Production Using Recycled Aluminum

The Aluminum-Alloy body of the Ford F-150 makes it one of the toughest vehicles on the road today. However, the use of aluminum doesn’t just make the F-150 tougher. It also makes Ford’s signature truck more environmentally-conscious as well.

According to a recent Ford press release, Ford can create 30,000 Ford F-150 trucks a month with recycled aluminum.

Ford recycles up to 20 million pounds of aluminum a month during the production of the Ford F-150 fleet of vehicles. That aluminum is then repurposed to help create even more F-150s.

In order to recycle up to 20 million pounds of aluminum, Ford uses a closed-loop manufacturing system to reuse the aluminum that is left over from previous manufacturing.

This use of recycled aluminum helps to avoid 95% of the greenhouse gas emissions that usually result from the production of aluminum in the automotive industry.

For a truck that’s tough, affordable, and environmentally friendly, the answer is clear: the Ford F-150!

Ford Introduces Ford F-150 Limited

Ford is aiming for the high end of the automotive market with the unveiling of a new luxury version F-150 pickup. Consumers in the United States have been snapping up trucks and SUVs in the midst of lower gas prices, leaving fuel efficient coupes and sedans in the rearview mirror. The F-150 Platinum will soon take a step down from the top of the F-150 ladder to make way for this new trim.

The 2016 Ford F-150 Limited will head to dealer lots later this year. One of the new features practically explains the amount of luxury within the pickup in itself: multi-contour massaging seats.

Fifty percent of Ford’s pickup sales in the month of June consisted of the three current premium models, the Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. The Lariat tops $40,000 while the current top-of-the-line Platinum can hit upwards of $60,000 depending on options.

The F-150 Limited will also top $60,000 in answer to consumer’s high end demands. The pickup will pack a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine under the hood. Fuel economy will sit at an EPA-estimated 17 city/24 hwy mpg.

The Ford F-Series has been the best-selling model in the United States since 1982.

We at Friendly Ford are waiting on our toes for the latest in luxury pickups to arrive!

Ford Takes Top Honor as Best Overall Truck Brand

When a single vehicle boasts at least 30 awards and accolades within one model year, it makes you sit up and take notice. Such is the story of the all-new 2015 Ford F-150. The truck’s 30th award is earned in collaboration with the F-250 and F-350 as Ford was named Best Overall Truck Brand in the Kelley Blue Book® 2015 Brand Image Awards.

2015 Ford F-Series Wins Best Overall Truck Brand in KBB’s 2015 Brand Image Awards

In order to determine the winners of the KBB Brand Image Award, data is taken from KBB’s Brand Watch Study, which is able to calculate opinions of new-car shoppers as they research for a new vehicle. Thirteen vehicles are named winners in seven categories based on their scores in twelve factors like exterior styling, affordability, fuel efficiency, prestige/sophistication, etc. The Best Overall Truck Brand award is the only category in which only one car is chosen as opposed to one mainstream model and one luxury.

This is Ford’s sixth time winning the award out of the seven times KBB has named a winner.

Here’s what the KBB experts had to say about Ford. “The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the country or more than 30 years, so the fact that KBB.com visitors would name it the Best Overall Truck Brand isn’t surprising. But Ford isn’t taking its fortunes for granted. The boldly recast 2015 Ford F-150 boasts aluminum-intensive architecture that saves as much as 700 pounds and delivers a subsequent increase in fuel economy.”

If you want more proof than the general consensus of 12,000-plus new-car shoppers, stop by Friendly Ford today to test drive Ford’s trucks for yourself.
