The all-new 2016 Escape will be equipped with the Ford SYNC 3 Connectivity System that will provide quicker performance, voice recognition, and a touchscreen that’s easier to use than ever before. The new technology will also debut on the Ford Fiesta.

SYNC 3 will also include AppLink, which provides control over smart phone apps, as well as enhanced 911 Assist, Wi-Fi software updates, and Siri Eyes-Free capability for iPhones.

Mark LaNeve, Ford Motor Company Vice President of US Marketing, Sales and Service, said, “SYNC always has been about providing a safer way for our customers to connect their smartphones in order to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.”

Ford introduced SYNC to its lineup first in 2007 and continues to update it with the latest technology to provide the best in-car connectivity available. If you’re interested in learning more about Ford’s all-new SYNC 3 technology, visit us at Friendly Ford.

More 2016 Mustang Packages On the Way

Never satisfied with anything less than the best, Ford has updated its 2016 Mustang model for the third quarter of 2015. Though there aren’t many major changes, the 2016 Mustang now has more package options available.

Specifically, there are two new packages: the California Special Package, and the Pony Package. Each of these choices is a throwback to popular Mustang options of the ‘60s.

The California Special Package has a long list of new features for the vehicle, including 19-inch ebony-painted machined aluminum wheels, a unique grille, door panel inserts and carpet, and more. Meanwhile, the Pony Package comes with the 19-inch polished aluminum wheels and a tri-bar pony logo on the grille.

The pricing hasn’t been released for either package yet, but surely that information will become clear as the time gets closer for these new Mustangs to hit the market. What do you think of the new 2016 Mustang packages?

Ford’s New Vice President of Global Strategy

It wasn’t long ago that Mark Fields announced the creation of the vice president of global strategy position—and he’s already filled it. John Casesa, a Wall Street analyst, will lead Ford’s global strategy team. Casesa has put in over 20 years as an analyst in the automotive industry, employed by Merrill Lynch & Co., Schroders PLC, and General Motors.

“John knows business and the auto industry inside and out,” Fields said in a statement.

As the new vice president of global strategy, Casesa will advise on investments in new products, technology, and business models. In the ever growing auto industry, Ford is looking to keep its global plan, “One Ford,” on track. The plan keeps vehicle variations from region to region to a minimum and changes only what’s necessary.

This isn’t the first shake up by Fields. Since taking the helm last July, Fields has changed quite a few leadership positions. First, he appointed a separate president to Lincoln, Ford’s luxury car brand. He also switched Jim Farley, now head of Europe, and Stephen Odell, head of global marketing sales and service. In February 2015, he named Mark LaNeve to head Ford’s US marketing, sales, and service after John Felice retired.

Casesa started March 1st and we at Friendly Ford bet we’ll see big moves from him.

Car and Driver's 10Best List

2015 Ford Mustang

The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT has earned itself a spot on Car and Driver’s 10Best list. This is the ninth time the Mustang has earned this honor in the list’s 33-year history and has been included on the list for four of the last five years.

The 10Best list names the best new cars in the United States for under $80,000, regardless of class or capabilities.

“It’s a huge honor to have the Mustang GT recognized on Car and Driver’s 10Best list,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer, in a statement. “The substantial amount of time and effort our engineering team put into Mustang has paid off; we’re hopeful that the car has a substantial presence on the 10Best list for years to come.”

Car and Driver loved the Mustang’s fun-to-drive nature and commented that when going through a series of turns, the Mustang makes you feel like “you’re wearing wheels.”
