The Ford Motor Company Fund recently announced that it would be creating a Ford Resource and Engagement Center in Detroit, MI, the second of its kind. This center will provide essential needs and services to east-side residents in Detroit, concentrating on education, job training, and business development. Overall, the new community center is a $5 million investment.
According to Ford, the new community center will be located at a middle school named Fisher Magnet Upper Academy, part of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation. There are up to 18 nonprofit community groups that will be helping with services, including things like food distribution, legal assistance, workforce development, and more.
“The decision made by Ford Fund to create the Ford Resource and Engagement Center in a traditional public school reflects the reality that there are few, if any, stronger investments to ensure impact, scale and sustainability within a neighborhood or community,” said Nikolai Vitti, superintendent of Detroit Public Schools.
The new community center represents Ford’s long-term investment in the future of Detroit, a city that’s suffered financially in recent years. At Friendly Ford, we’re proud to be associated with an automaker that isn’t just interested in pure profit, but that strives to become an integral part of the communities with which it’s involved. This new community center is just one of many exciting new projects on the horizon.
Ford is completely redefining automotive design, launching a new campaign focusing on ergonomics, lightweight materials, and exceeding efficiency. In fact, many of Ford’s recent designs are set to showcase at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy, the world capital of design.

Although it sounds like something from a science-fiction movie, some Ford designers have taken to using eye tracking and biometric technologies to figure out the most important aspects of vehicle styling, said Ford. Using systems like this, new Ford models will feature precise detailing and state-of-the art fashion.
“Vehicle interiors have witnessed one of the biggest evolutions across the history of cars in recent years,” said Raj Nair, vice president of Global Product Development for Ford. “Not only have we introduced a great deal of useful new technology into our cars and trucks, we consistently are adding better materials, improved design and increased features across the board, from high-end vehicles to entry-level segments.”
Ford’s focus is on using ergonomic design, more lightweight materials, and on having incredible attention to detail. This means more comfortable interiors, more aluminum alloy and carbon fiber, and laser precision. The next-generation of Ford Automotive Design is bound to redefine the industry, but you can see the current generation at Friendly Ford.
Joey Logano was back to Victory Lane in his Mustang at Phoenix International Raceway, where he won his second career XFINITY series race.
We’d been waiting for a while at Friendly Ford to see the automaker score an XFINITY win again, and it was about time. Logano had finished second in his last four starts in the series, despite having started from pole in the last three.
This time, Logano took pole again but managed to make it stick during the race, even as runner-up Matt Kenseth fiercely contested his lead all day long. In the end, the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang led 176 of the 200 laps at the one-mile track. Not bad!
“It felt good,” said Logano, who collected his 22nd career win in Phoenix. “It took a long time to get our next win. We’ve been so close to winning—obviously, a lot of poles and things are going well. We just needed a little more speed, and it was awesome to get it today.”
That’s the question many are asking, including us at Friendly Ford, upon news that the automaker trademarked the term “ECOBEAST.” If that sounds like a reference to Ford’s EcoBoost engine technology, you’re on the right track. The patent request was filed under “Automobiles and automobile engines.”
What do you think Ford’s ECOBEAST patent could mean? Many believe it’s a high-output EcoBoost engine, even surpassing the highest-capacity 3.5-liter version currently offered. But why would a bigger engine require an entirely new name? Perhaps this will be an entire new line of engines.
Hopefully it’s not a red herring set loose by Ford to distract us all before the Detroit Auto Show, which might have something to do with the next-generation SVT Raptor on the way.
We’d like some answers, but trademark filing doesn’t indicate a projected timeline, so Ford could either be in its final stages before debut or initial development. Still, it sounds like our favorite automaker has some exciting ideas in mind.
Ford plans to put $5 billion or more into Lincoln vehicles and their designs. Within five years, a Ford investment in luxury segment Lincoln vehicles will replace or revitalize every single one to guarantee improvement and future success. The Lincoln overhaul is necessary to give the brand some traction in the luxury segment and the ability to compete with rivals fairly.
USA Today said, “The investment will include developing a big, new vehicle platform unique to Lincoln, meant to give the brand a chance to challenge the top BMW and Mercedes-Benz models.” Having a luxury lineup that is new and exciting will no doubt make the company more profitable, but it cannot be achieved without a large sum of money or a huge time investment. Luckily, Ford is willing to put in both to make a respectable luxury brand.
Lincoln will use the new D6 design, which will be the base for a new line of vehicles in 2019. The D6 will give Lincoln a distinctive look from Ford, making it sophisticated like other luxury brands on the market. Before the D6 launches, the brand will first give its current models updates.
