The 2014 Ford Fiesta Reigns as Subcompact Fuel Efficiency King

According to recent EPA testing, the new king of fuel efficiency for subcompact cars is the all-new 2014 Ford Fiesta. The new Fiesta achieves a best-in-class highway fuel economy of 41 mpg. It is the only subcompact car on the road today that can return more than 40 mp highway.

This fuel economy achievement is possible for the Fiesta SE with the Super Fuel Economy package that includes Ford’s 1.6-liter engine and PowerShift automatic transmission.  In addition to the amazing 41 mpg highway, the Fiesta also gets an impressive 30 mpg city and 34 mpg combined.

The new and improved aerodynamics also helps achieve a better fuel rating. The SFE package includes a rear spoiler, side air deflectors, lower grille blockers, underbody shields, low-rolling resistance tires and cruise control. These all help decrease the amount of fuel consumption needed to cruise down the interstate.

“The 2014 model is shaping up to be a game changer for Fiesta,” said Liz Elser, Ford Fiesta marketing manager. “With the addition of Fiesta ST and the award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost®, we have fantastic performance and fuel efficiency. But with today’s news, buyers will have a fuel-efficient Fiesta no matter which they choose.”

Ford Looks to Social Media for New Fiesta Campaign

Once again, Ford will be looking to their social media friends, fans, and followers for help with an experiment that turns out to be quite a fiesta for the participants. A select group made up 100 bloggers, tweeters, and some big name celebrities will be given keys to a new Ford Fiesta for a 6-month test drive. These individuals will then be asked to document their entire driving experience on social media as they go.

Pictures and videos from this experience will be posted online on the social media sites and will be used to help Ford build their next ad campaign for the new Fiesta. This campaign, which is being called the “social remix,” isn’t the first time Ford has tapped into social media for an experiment like this. Four years ago Ford also handed over Fiesta keys to a group of fans, which again included celebrities.

The first campaign in 2009 was very successful as thousands of applicants were willing to take part in the experiment. The number of applicants is expected to be even higher this time around. If you’re 21 or over, online applications are being accepted right now at http://www.fiestamovement.com/apply.

Along with filling out the application, Ford wants you to pitch why you’d be a perfect candidate to take part in the experiment. They’re going to be looking for strong creativity and a wow factor. The lucky participants that are chosen for the “social remix” will be receiving the new Fiestas around April or May.

Friendly Ford encourages everyone to consider giving it a shot! Or if you just want to test drive a Fiesta on your own, come out and see us today!

2014 Fiesta Parties with a 1-Liter Engine

The 2014 Ford Fiesta will arrive on the scene with a wide variety of options. On one end of the spectrum, the Fiesta ST will give a powerful and sporty performance. And far on the other end is the 2014 Ford Fiesta with a one-liter EcoBoost engine. And for the first time ever, it will have three cylinders.

Now, don’t let this little one-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost scare you. It still packs a powerful punch, a punch equal to that of 123 horses. But the real magic of this engine is its fuel economy. Right now projections put it somewhere in the forties—maybe even fifty miles per gallon! Joe Bakaj, Ford vice president of Powertrain Engineering, promised, “Customers are going to be pleasantly surprised at what the smallest member of the EcoBoost engine family can do!”

And for those of you who are worried about the shake and shudder that an uneven number of cylinders may produce: forget about it! Ford has taken care of that problem with added weights to the front pulley and rear flywheel, which will counteract all the shaking. Believe it or not, the three-cylinder engine may just provide the smoothest ride in town.

The 2014 Focus will also come with an enhanced version of the MyFord Touch system, featuring a new 6.5-inch color touch screen, updated software, enhanced voice recognition, and more simplified commands. Friendly Ford is really excited to see this one pull into the lots sometime next year!
