Sometimes, it seems like no matter how much storage you have in your car, you always need more. Auto manufacturers are always looking for new ways to optimize storage space for drivers looking to get a little extra out of their vehicle. Recently, Ford did that exact thing with the new Ford Escape’s storage space. Featuring an entirely redesigned exterior, the 2017 Escape is said to have 25% more storage in the front row and 15% more storage overall compared to the previous model year.

The most drastic change is that of the center console, which is now 50% larger and is designed to be more comfortable and ergonomically efficient for the driver’s right arm. Additionally, the all-new electronic parking brake system freed up space in the interior for two new storage areas, a larger media bin with power ports, a new glove-box, and improved cup holders.
Ford senior Interior designer Zulf Ali said, “That whole center console area is what we call ‘Manhattan real estate’ because it’s valuable. It isn’t a lot of space to work with, but as a designer, those constraints are exciting. It’s a challenge that forces you to be more creative–to ask yourself, ‘OK, how can we get clever with this?’”
Last year, the Escape—Ford’s #2 best-selling vehicle—tied for first place on J.D. Power’s highest-ranked compact SUV of initial quality. However, designers and engineers who worked on the new Ford Escape are confident that the dramatic changes to the SUV’s interior and technology will help solidify its standing. The 2017 Escape is already available in showrooms with the spacious redesigns and extra storage.

Kelley Blue Book recently unveiled another interesting “10 Best” vehicles list, this time the category is for the 10 Best SUVs Under $25,000. Once again, KBB.com tipped their hat to Ford while including a popular Ford SUV in the 3. The editors of KBB.com chose these vehicles based on things such as style, practicality, features, size, and of course, price. Ford is proud to announce that the 2013 Ford Escape came in at number 3 on the list.
The Escape has always been known to have a boxy look to it as part of its exterior design. It was a bold move this year by Ford when they decided to change things up a bit and went for a swoopier look with sleeker curves on the 2013 model. The feedback has been very positive though, as many really enjoy the new look. The new Escape also offers several new features and plenty of room on the inside, all at an affordable price.
“The latest Ford Escape represents a dramatic departure from the flavorless crossover it replaced for 2013 ,” said Kelley Blue Book. “Chock full of class-exclusive technology and luxury-like trimmings, the affordable yet stylish Ford Escape adds an unexpected splash of zest to the compact SUV segment.”
The stylish and affordable 2013 Ford Escape is available at Friendly Ford, located in Roselle, IL. We’ve got an enormous selection of Escapes so stop over today and check them out.
On Sunday, December 9, CBS aired the thrilling conclusion to the Amazing Race’s 21st season. The Amazing Race takes eleven teams of two on a race around the world. At the end of almost every leg of the race, one team is eliminated. Ford was ecstatic to sponsor the event, which exposed travelers to different cultures and customs all across the globe—including trips to countries like Bangladesh, China, Spain, and the Netherlands. Two Ford Escapes were even awarded to the lucky winners of the second to last leg of the race, James and Jaymes (Team Chippendale).
The prize Escapes weren’t the only Ford appearances; in fact, the whole race was powered by Ford. Every time the contestants had to drive themselves from one location to another, they did it in style with an all-new Ford. The Ford Escape was especially important during the race; one of the tasks featured in the finale episode forced contestants to implement the innovative hands-free lift gate feature that is unique to the industry. Racers had to figure out that they had to open the trunk using their feet since their hands were full of eight giant baskets. Then the contestants loaded the trunk up with the baskets, taking advantage of the large trunk space of the Escape as they continued their journey through France.
We at Friendly Ford have fallen in love with the Ford Escape and were very thrilled to see the contestants fall in love just as much as we did. Come down to Friendly Ford today and check out the all-new 2013 Ford Escape, and we guarantee you’ll fall in love too!
