When it comes to finding the perfect pickup truck, it’s important to find the perfect combination of versatility and power without sacrificing fuel economy. The new, lighter 2015 F-150 is the answer to truck lovers’ prayers with the new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine providing the new aluminum-bodied truck with impressive power and hauling capability, along with great fuel efficiency.

Joining the 2.7-liter EcoBoost as an engine option is a 3.5-liter V6, which churns out 283 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque, while being able to tow up to 7,600 pounds when properly equipped—all with a V6.

“The 2015 F-150 is the most capable F-150 yet, while shedding up to 700 pounds,” said Bob Fascetti, vice president of Powertrain Engineering. “These two new V6 engines—the 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost and normally aspirated 3.5-liter Ti-VCT—set a new standard for Ford for capability and efficiency.”

Set to arrive at dealerships this fall, the all-new pickup trucks are a must see, so make sure to keep an eye on Friendly Ford for their arrival!

Ford’s Composer Creates the Soundtrack to Your Mustang

Ford's Composer

If we told you Ford has a composer on its payroll would that surprise you? Well, it’s true, but this person isn’t writing concertos for orchestras; Shawn Carney, a Ford engineer, is composing the soundtrack to your Mustang.

Imagine driving something as exciting as a Mustang without the powerful growl and grumble of the engine. Those sounds do not happen by magic—they have to be finely crafted and honed using every aspect of the car, from the engine, to the chassis, to the body panels.

Carney is a powertrain noise, vibration, and harshness engineer for the Ford Mustang. He works with a team of sound engineers to make sure every Mustang, no matter the engine installed, sounds like a Mustang should.

“In addition to the usual suspects you expect to hear inside the car, like the engine and exhaust, the body structure can become an incremental source of unwanted noise,” explained Carney, in a statement. “Body panels can act like speakers, amplifying vibration and sound inputs from the road, powertrain and wind.

Head to Ford’s website to hear a small clip of Carney’s work.

The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang will arrive at Friendly Ford this fall, and we can’t wait to hear its engine growl in person.

All-New Mulally Scholarship Honors Ex-CEO’s Engineering Legacy

Here’s how significant Alan Mulally was to the Ford Motor Company: he retired as CEO only a couple weeks ago, and the Blue Oval has already set up an all-new Mulally scholarship to honor his legacy. Obviously, Ford wants to ensure that Mulally remains just as embedded in Ford’s future story as he was in the past. To that end, they’ve established the Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship, which will award a total of $1 million to students looking to start careers in automotive engineering.

“Alan’s engineering background and data-driven decision-making paved the way for the extraordinary leadership he provided at Ford,” Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford said. “We are honoring his legacy by providing scholarships to students who demonstrate the strong engineering ability that is required to develop into the next generation of leaders for our industry.”

Here’s how Ford will split out that $1 million: each year, they’ll award 10 different $10,000 scholarships to sophomore or junior level engineering students at some of the nation’s best universities. With the Mulally scholarship, Ford hopes to use the ex-CEO’s legacy to inspire the next generation of engineers who will fill his shoes. That generation of engineers will eventually be responsible for the excellent products found in the Ford lineup, which you can also find in our inventory here at Friendly Ford.

Ford is Declared Greenest by Interbrand

This year, Ford beat all other brands on Interbrand’s “Best Global Green Brand” list of 2014. Ford not only beat other automotive brands like Toyota, Nissan, and Chevrolet they also beat out huge hitters such as Nestle, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson along with many more.

Ford scored high when it comes to transparency and disclosure. The company is known for its sustainability efforts and its environmentally-friendly business operations. Last year Ford ranked second to Toyota and back in 2012, Ford came in at number 15 on the list.

To be considered for Interbrand’s list, the brand also had to rank on the annual “Best Global Brands” report. Interbrand does extensive research to investigate how the brand is perceived among the general public.

Robert Brown, VP, Sustainability, Environment & Safety Engineering said, “At Ford we are working to develop the highest-quality products in the market for our customers while manufacturing them in the most environmentally responsible manner and replicating this globally. This award tells us that our stakeholders agree.” Brown, along with the rest of Ford Motor Company are proud to be in the number 1 spot when it comes to sustainability.

With the newest set-up, the Mustang will not only alert emergency services, but will be able to tell what kind of impact occurred. It will also be able to tell the maximum change in velocity and if there were safety belts in-use. This can help emergency services prepare and better assist you if you were involved in an accident.
