This month, the Mustang is celebrating its 50th year of continuous production! 50 years ago, the Mustang made its debut at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York. On April 16th and 17th Ford plans to make history again by displaying the Ford Mustang Convertible on the observation deck of the Empire State Building for the second time. Ford is hoping to replicate the exciting introduction from 1964.
Currently, the Ford team is working hard to get the all-new Mustang atop this iconic building. Since a helicopter delivery is impossible and a crane cannot reach the height of the building, the Mustang must be taken to the top in pieces. They must disassemble the Mustang into smaller parts that are able to travel up an elevator 86 stories to the observation deck. Once all of the pieces make it to the top, technicians have only 6 hours to get the Mustang reassembled.
The Mustang will be on display atop the Empire State Building April 16-17 and is open to visitors from 8AM-2AM.
At Friendly Ford, we cannot wait to see pictures of the Mustang on top of the Empire State Building and we surely cannot wait until the 2015 Mustang arrives on our lot in Roselle! How are you celebrating 50 years of Mustang?
