Once again, Ford will be looking to their social media friends, fans, and followers for help with an experiment that turns out to be quite a fiesta for the participants. A select group made up 100 bloggers, tweeters, and some big name celebrities will be given keys to a new Ford Fiesta for a 6-month test drive. These individuals will then be asked to document their entire driving experience on social media as they go.
Pictures and videos from this experience will be posted online on the social media sites and will be used to help Ford build their next ad campaign for the new Fiesta. This campaign, which is being called the “social remix,” isn’t the first time Ford has tapped into social media for an experiment like this. Four years ago Ford also handed over Fiesta keys to a group of fans, which again included celebrities.
The first campaign in 2009 was very successful as thousands of applicants were willing to take part in the experiment. The number of applicants is expected to be even higher this time around. Along with filling out the application, Ford wants you to pitch why you’d be a perfect candidate to take part in the experiment. They’re going to be looking for strong creativity and a wow factor. The lucky participants that are chosen for the “social remix” will be receiving the new Fiestas around April or May.
